McKenna's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last season as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in the Championship.

"There have been any of those conversations," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a unique position here at a special team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Context and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to finish the current global tournament campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in next month would secure their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful European competition campaign, even if they fail to finish as Group J runners-up.

Given his current position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until following the play-offs at the earliest.
