Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League at home loss of 2025.

But the primary talking point was Fulham's next goal when the keeper lost possession far beyond his area.

He ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the sideline.

However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those booing sessions really irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed following, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Alright booing after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a early advantage prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the second score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

He stated following the match that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a error of my own, I take accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad defeat and it is tough to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's error, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second longest-range top division score of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.

Ten moments passed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five moments following the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round bad day for Tottenham to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to come before the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have come since the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said the boss.

"During in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost four consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a major team with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
