Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
